The Ride

This site is dedicated to the preservation and advocacy of 47-54 Chevy and GMC trucks. We have a passion for pickups, COE’s, Panels, Suburbans, and Canopy Express trucks.
We appreciate all types of these old trucks, stock, resto-mod, or raced. They may be raised or lowered, painted or patina, chassis modified, swapped, or stock leaf springs.

In 2016 the Facebook group “1947-1954 Chevrolet And GMC Trucks” was created to assist owners with rebuilding their rides. This site was created in an attempt to remedy problems and limitations of the Facebook group. Specifically, answers to common questions and finding parts without being scammed.

The Facebook group “1947-1954 Chevrolet And GMC Trucks group.” As the largest active AD truck group, we attract a lot of scammers. To mitigate the scams and maintain the integrity we ask that you read the group description. We require that you know and agree to the rules and demonstrate that have some idea of what the group is about

Try to stay open-minded and keep the negativity to a minimum, if you don’t like it just keep scrolling. You get a nasty comment, no need to retaliate. When these disputes get nasty someone will report it, and the administrators are forced to make a decision. So, let’s keep it civil and just enjoy the ride.
Soliciting members directly is not allowed. Anyone who receives unwanted inbox messages from other members should report them to the administrators.
We try our best to weed out the income opportunities, t-shirt sales, dating solicitations, bitcoin ads, center consoles, and fake junk yards managed by a kid in Cameroon or Pakistan.
New Members:
To keep out the scams we ask prospective members to know the group rules, know what the group is about, and if they are NEW to FB must have an unlocked profile, a real profile picture, visible friends, and some history of legitimate public posts available.
Sales:
As a restoration group, we allow private party sales and suggestions and references to reputable corporations and builders. However, no spam. Comments or posts should include a detailed description or “how-to” as not to be confused spam or links to fraudulent sales pages.
Please be wary when replying or posting links to other FB groups, as this is a common scam tactic. If you want to post a link, include some text as to what is offered by the individual, group, or website.
We try to protect the members from scams. Any sales need to include a item picture and location. The seller must have an unblocked account, a real profile picture, viewable friends, and history of open Facebook posts.
Posts or comments with “Inbox me” or “message me” are flagged, as a common tactic of scammers to keep the discussion off the thread. Although some scrutiny from members can seem offensive, it does weed out the scams and fraud for serious buyers. Be wary of Phishing scams and never send money with assurance you won’t lose it.
If your have a business we allow limited advertising in the form of a helpful write up or article, contact the administrator for more information.
With over 80,000 members we don’t have the time to contact and discuss post or comment violations. Serious violations result in being blocked from the group.
* If you are using fake profile pictures
* Fraudulently selling things you don’t own
* Claiming to be or having the approval of a group administrator or moderator.
* Violations of the group rules
We will try to intervene when we have harassment, offensive discussion, over-sensitivity, or minor violations of the group rules.
We are all here to keep these trucks on the road!

Bullet rules…

I moderate the 1947-1954 Chevrolet And GMC Trucks group with Jim Wilmouth. Over the years we have been plagued with various scams, and have tried to mitigate with solutions such as posting rules or banning members who fail to follow those rules. However, scammers just create new accounts.

“A comprehensive testimonial will be thoughtfully placed here, complete with all the compelling details and thoughtful insights.”
